Michael Tibbetts on the Business Behind Salterra

Michael Tibbetts knows what it means to give someone your full attention. Before committing fully to hospitality, he was an ophthalmologist managing a medical career alongside responsibility for his family's resort business.

In this episode of The Hospitality Mentor Podcast, Steve Turk sits down with Michael, Chairman and CEO of JEM Worldwide and the founder and CEO of Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa on South Caicos.

Michael shares how his years in medicine shaped his approach to trust, communication and leadership. He also explains the decision to leave clinical practice and focus on the hospitality business his family had built in the Cayman Islands.

The conversation then moves into the development of Salterra. From the island's salt history to shipping logistics, staff housing and destination access, Michael offers a look at the work behind the finished resort.
